    Hmm, tough call...

If youre happy with your framerates, don't listen to me. I'm just saying I WOULDN'T be happy with those framerates. But that's me Some people don't mind gaming at 800x600 or lower with no AA. My friend games 640x480 with no AA and he kicks my ass.

Depends on wheter you listen to music or game more. I would go for a good set of headphones instead, they offer more bang for the buck

Those are with high detail settings, and the framerates are probably under 20, but still, very impresssive. I don't even have gfx as good as those.

Basically comes down to you. If you're happy with your Radeon 7000 keep it.

Maybe later i'll show you some SS screenshots.

Arg or I could get a 24X cd writer and 256ddr. Question. If I get teh ATI 8500, will it last? I mean will I need to upgrade months later?

    Make up your mind here

    These are on a GeForce3 Ti200

Both are in 1280x960 with no AA, the SS:SE screen shot has Quality settings enabled

And on SS:SE I am getting about 50fps with those settings (if I move the settings to speed I get about 70 or 80) and on UT, it doesn't say, but it's really really smooth

It'll probably last you over a year, maybe even 18 months.

Your call. Is the audio or the video more important. I can tell you that an Audigy with a good set of speakers is a big improvement.

UT is the one on the bottom, BTW
I don't nkow why the screen shot came out so dark, it isn't that dark in the game.

Exactly how much do you have to spend?

Maybe you can get a slightly slower video card and your 256MB RAM.

If your budget is $450 why can't you get the 8500 and 256MB RAM?

I put that in and it comes out to $400 I don't see how it can go higher than $450 with tax/shipping but i may be wrong.

    I went to www.ncix.com

    I see.

Well a Radeon 7500 wouldn't be too bad either-- I mean isn't it better to have good graphics and more RAM than it is to have nothing at all?

Can't always have everything...believe me if we could I'd have a Radeon 10000 engineering sample, a Coolermaster aluminum case and dual Athlons

Well nobody said it had to be realistic

Would advise against a Live 5.1...waaay too many issues with that card. Audigy or TB Santa Cruz are the way to go, and there are some cheaper Hercules cards that are good too if you can find them...

SB Live had big driver issues, most of which are resolved in the Audigy.

If your a compatibility freak unlike I am, get the TBSC.

I'm the worlds worst incompatibility freak...VIA chipsets, Creative sound cards, and I'm a fan of ATI video cards I don't care because i rarely have any driver problems and those products offer the best performance...so I'm willing to take the risk of bad drivers
