    Unhappy

Hi, when I select Project..References I'm getting "Error accessing the system registry". The help says that the registration database for my system has been corrupted. I've uninstalled and reinstalled VB and get the same problem. What can I do?

    VB6 Enterprise
    Thanks in advance

You might have to clean the registry of all vb entries and then install it again. That could take some time and the eaasiest way to do it would be to
    1) Use the backed up registry
    2) Format
The problem could be something else, with an easier way of solving it, but if all else fails there is always a format.

I know I could format, but that'll eat up considerable time and if I add an app later I could run into the same thing. Is there a way to correct a corrupted registration database??

    Thanks.

    Error Accessing System Registry

I received the same problem my culprit is Seagates Software Crystal Reports Version 8. Seagate has a fix for this and you will need to also download visual basic's Service pack 4. However When I rebooted my machine the error returned and I am unable to get rid of it now. If you have any suggestions I would really appreicated it and would be glad to forward the documentation from Seagate to you if you would like.

You could try uninstalling Visual Basic, and get a program called RegClean from the Microsoft site. That's supposed to take out all dead registry entries, but I've heard it takes an absolute age to do it.

I'm using NT4 on a network. In my case, I needed to add myself to the group that can "fully administer the computer/domain" (set by an net admin in User Manager). Once I had that access, I could get back in without error.

In researching this, one thing I read was that if a component doesn't register properly, it could corrupt the registration database and give the same problem but that was in win95 documentation.
