    External Maxell SuperDisk LS-120 Drive

    Hi all,

I was clearing some junk out, and found an old external Maxell SuperDisk LS-120 Drive (parallel connection). It looks like an internal one just in a case. I was wondering if I can take it out of the case and use it as an internal drive? (I am asking because I would have to break the case open to get into it, and if I did that and it didn't work, I would break the drive! )

So is it possible to remove the case and use it as an internal? It uses its own power supply, and is a parallel connection.

    Thanks in advance

well if you did break open the case you would still have to run a parralell cable to the back of the computer and also a power cable out of the computer, (case hole?) anyways i think you should just keep it as external

    Hi,

Hmm, that was one of the reasons I wanted it internal as my parallel port is busted and I don't have room on the mobo for a PCI card with a parallel connector

Don't pretend you know what you're talking about with hardware, penguin boy

j2k: yes, it's most likely just an IDE drive in a converter. I've done the same thing with a CDRW drive in a FireWire case

    lol, thanks for that Justin

I think I'll try it, if it doesn't work and it buggers up, I'll just put it up on ebay and claim "the postman must've damaged it"

no, I didn't really say the last part, did I?
