.Net services...
What is anybody going to do with this technology then?
Isn't this the software equivalent of an MPV - useful every so often but 99% of the time you could do the job quicker without dragging around the extra weight of all those seats?

Webservices are the backbone for B2B services.

Web Services makes it easy for a company to concentrate on their business instead of searching or trying to provide information that they can hardly collect.
For example, The job of credit card validation.... though it can be done locally( think of pain in the butt) it would lot easier to just pass it on to a validation service provider and get the results.
Imagine you are an electronic gadgets dealer. How about getting geographical data via webservices for a customer to whom you sold a handheld GPS for support purposes such as his altitude, latitude etc.. (Without webservices, you would normally email xyz at the GPS company who would in turn refer the email to relevant people....a lot of time is wasted..and the information you getback won't be credible)
How about getting the weather information from a weather information service provider to deliver perishable goods to a distant location ?? (The service provider will update the information and is available to you anytime !!!)

Here is a growing search engine for webservices (note: you would have to register for access)

Most of the services are free (because they are still in testing phase)
