vbForums.com members stealing other members
Just wondering if it annoys any of the admins, that certain users are well basically stealing members, or at least, advertising other forums, on this forum ?
I know it'd annoy me ...

Its due to forum members getting above their station and wanting to be admins themselves. So when they can't they run away and take their toys with them.

Hmmm, I think that's going a bit too far. Just string them up from the nearest lamp post by their goolies.

Well I just think its a real bad idea, and a very not nice thing for people to be advertising other people's forums on the vbforums.
It completely undermines the concept of an online community

One of the main reasons I joined is that it is more closely associated with my time zone. VBF turns into tumbleweed city quite often after you Brits go home from work.
I think the loyalty thing is a little over the top....do you buy s/w from only one source? If you found something cheaper and more convenient for you wouldn't you buy it there?
I love VBW and most of the people in it. Going to another site as well as VBW doesn't make me disloyal!!!!!
There is also the no kovan and j4u things going for turtletips! A definite plus in my book!

What a complete load of bollacks.....quite frankly l don't think anyone has anything to worry about here.....
Jez vbf is no. 1 for vb questions, but some of the members are truely painful....turtle tips has a much nicer feel to it. Also as Furby states, is more aimed at hardware and general software forums.....
Jamie you can actually belong to multiple boards, currently belong to five or six, and visit three on regular basis
Just to piss Jamie off

re; filburt's point about 27,000 members.
You know thats as much as I do.
All 27,000 members don't frequent the board ever day do they ?
And anyway yeah I still think its not nice to be advertising other forums proactively on the vbforums

I sincerely doubt the mods don't mind other forums (ie. the competition) being advertised.
And yes megatron did say that your advert in your signature is acceptable, but it doesn't mean he, or anyone else likes it!

wow, its not like people are forcing people to join other forums at gunpoint... a lot of people have left here because of all these freako religious fanatics... maybe if we kept those people out then this forum would be more succesful, and i know that people agree w/ me... cuz there was a discussion about it on another forum the other day...

Chit chat in here is like a boil on a butt... Sure the boil is fun to play with and squeeze etc but it wouldnt survive without the butt. The reason that the other forums are doomed is that they only have the boil and it cant survive long being butt-free.

first of all, terrible analogy, and second of all i bet they will survive, look at dimava's forums, though they aren't getting too much traffic they still have a relativly high userbase... as long as filburt can keep the money flow up he will be able to keep TT forums...

You see now this is why advertising is bad.
If you hadn't of made your stupid ****ing forums you spastic, then no-one would want to make a forum to compete with yours, and so on, and so on, etc.

Look, if you have a personal problem with me, then harass me in PMs. You don't have to drag the entire Forum Feedback forum with the admins into it.

I'm not trying to harass anyone you spa.
If you didn't make your stupid forums, then no-one else would make opposition forums, and no-one else would advertise theirs over yours and vice-versa.

I was not the first to make forums and "advertise" them here. The first to come to mind was Dennis' Promasc, and you didn't seem to have a problem with it. What's more, find a post where I refer to my site. Now find one where somebody else does it. I bet you my life savings that others are referring to my site much more often than I do.
Either way, the admins have already stated their opinion, and they said that not only was my signature acceptable, but, to quote Megatron, "advertising is allowed to a certain excent." Considering I haven't been contacted by an admin for months, I assume that I'm within that extent.
