    emergency Linux help!!

does anyone know of the or any command that will allow me to change the mac address of my network card in linux, i am using SuSE 73 if this helps

    Cheers

Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen a angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

    Read the manual for ifconfig

    man ifconfig

The command will be something like..

    /sbin/ifconfig eth0 hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

the numbers in blue will be your mac address

you can't physically change the current one, but you can overwrite the one that the OS thinks that you have got, this can be done in both unix and windows

ipconfig - a very handy utility
Great for when you're using eggdrop bots and want to find out what other hostnames are available

it is a very good linux distro, very stable, easy to use and asthetically pleasing

Martin: it depends really on what you want to do and your previous linux experience
