Insufficient or incorrect key column information - solved!
I ran across this error: Insufficient or incorrect key column information
Seems like there has been a few posts about it. There maybe more than one reason for the error, but here is the fix that worked for me:
I had the following DB structure-
tblContacts
fldContactID (primary key; autonumber)
fldName
fldAddress
tblPhones
fldContactID ' refers to tblContacts!fldContactsID
fldType
fldNumber
Every thing worked great initially, but then suddenly for no (apparent) reason, I started to generate the 'Insufficient or incorrect key column information' error.
The 'problem' was in tblPhones. VB/Access chokes if two records in tblPhones are identical. That's why it worked flawlessly at first, but once two identical records existed in tblPhones the error arose. Logically, there should be no problem with having identical records but alas Microsoft developers are not always logical people.
Simple work around:
tblPhones
fldDummy (primary key; autonumber)
fldContactID
fldType
fldNumber
Hope this helps you someday,
Jeff
