    Well, MIDI files sound really really bad, and some tunes even hurt the ears. If you want, you may be able to get away with some soft, quiet mp3 music, but no MIDI.

    it instantly shouts "home-made!"

    Nobody who took pride in their site would add music of any kind. Apart from anything else, support is patchy and poor modem users have to spend ages downloading it.

    Oh and by the way:
    Code:
    <EMBED SRC="song.mid" WIDTH="0" HEIGHT="0" PANEL="0" AUTOSTART="true" REPEAT="true" TEXT="" SAVE="false">
    You can replace song.mid with song.mp3. If a little thing still shows up, put it in an invisible frame, or a table cell with no width or height.

    One last note, isn't Geocities also an instant turn-off?
