need some basic guidance
Hi,
I am new to vb programming. Could anyone direct me to an excellent book on application development using visual basic. I am using vb 6.0.
What I'm looking at is alot of actual code (good examples) and thoroughness, that is, it takes you through the development of an application from scratch (more or less). It should treat with activeX controls and the other features.
It should also be as readable as possible... Is there any such book ? If not, what's the closest to this ?? thanks.

i started with "Desktop Applications for Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 - MCSD Training Kit" by Microsoft Press.
Good book, learnt loads, although that was for a microsoft exam, so it had a load of extra microsoft business ideals etc that you don't really need (unless you plan on working for them )

I know that 'Sams' has some 'programming data driven applications' books for different lanugages. They go though entire applications from start to finish in there.

Pretty much anything by Sams is pretty good for a beginner, but not all that great once you get up to intermediate. If you're just starting, then go with a Sams book.

My opinion
I agree. If you're not that used with programing "Learn Visual Basic 6 in 3 weeks" (Or whatever the titel is in English) by Greg Perry at SAMS is a good book to start with. Even if database programing for example is very little explained.

Hmm... how do you mean?
I ment that database programing in VB was one example of areaS that are discussed very little in that book. One example of things is often one thing of many... Or was it a personal request...
