First, keep the coordinates where you're drawing in some variables (like PlayerX and PlayerY). Then, allow the player to change the variables by pressing keys (example: if the player presses the Right Arrow key, PlayerX = PlayerX + 1).

thats what i did...just use the getasynckeystate api to find out when the player uses the arrow keys and change coordinates on player.x and player.y (or whatever ur vars are) by adding or subtracting and running the main game loop...

Try the tutorial I gave you (other people here can give you more links), it teaches you how to do all that including transparent images. 3D is a lot harder, you should start with 2D and only then move on to 3D (I sure hope you're good at maths if you wanna go for 3D ).
