I just downloaded a HUGE amount of icons from different sites. And I want to put them all on my website so other people can download them. I think all of them are from microsoft. I just need to know if I would be violating any laws by putting them on my website. Thanks

Depends where you got them
If you look at vbaccelerator and other sites you will notice they have icon downloads. It would appear that the Microsoft ones are freely available, in that alot of windows/vb sites offer them for download. Got a couple of cds over the weekend full of vb resources, and on the first cd was a complete collection of Windows 3.x - 2000 icons.
Guess it's in Bills interest to have standard windows icons in all products.
Some sites do have charges for their own icons, and persumably you couldn't offer those as downloads. Have a look at http://www.winfiles.com to get an idea.
Hope it helps

If there is not any licensing or copyright notice anywhere when you downloaded them, you are allowed to post them up, but you are not allowed to charge money for them.
But I think you are still best off by asking Microsoft.

Well, I can't remember what sites I got it from. But I know they were all VB sites that had them available. Can you download the icons from my site and tell me if I should take them off or not. Or just tell me what icons I should remove from the .zip file? Thanks.
