    Creating an Icon

    I need to create an icon for an application and do not know how. I have Photoshop version 6.0 and don't know how to have an image as a .ico

    you need a specific program... look at download.com and search for

    icon maker

    you will find tons of programs ez to use!

    The de-facto standard for cursor/icon editing... it was the first app to edit Windows XP true-color icons and cursors, too...

    Nope, they had some kind of GIF editor which can also handle true color icons for that

    Don't use true color icons unless you're either including a lower version as well (which is the best solution), or you're being lame and only coding for Windows XP

    The GIF editor (Gif Movie Gear, I used it until MUAngelo 5.5 came out) only EXPORTED icons, it didn't edit them... it was a pain to work with. Microangelo was the first EDITOR for them, not the first app to generate them

    My Reccommendation? Icon Forge! I use it for my programs, and I find itz the easiest to use! Try download.com for a free download!
