    does anyone know how to tell the difference between a cd and dvd drive

    for anybody interested i think i found a way to do this by reading the device description in the registry but not sure if it will allways work or not. it seems to work on my machine running 98 and me. its rather lengthy so i won't upload it unless theres any interest.
