Vb is a great development environment. It allows you to develop at tremendous speed. Fortunately my manager lives in a mainframe world and is used to thinking in months where I think in hours. That leaves me a lot of spare time.

Unfortunately I'm not a guru, so it's of not much use to you.

(All of a sudden the disadvantage of using my own name occurs to me).

Not a Guru yet, but i thought i would post a reply anyway.

Why have i got time to help you guys out? In my case work is progressing slowly. Before i can move on, work has to be finished on the COM objects my GUI uses. So i have a bit of free time.

Besides that i like to help people out. It is great to know that you have managed to solve someones problem. Besides which, everyone starts out as a beginner, and i once needed help as well.

As is often stated "The best way to learn, is to teach". This is true of VB and this forum as well. I myself have learnt an awful lot from just helping people out. If i see a problem that intrigues me, i will try and solve it, even if i have never done anything like that before. (Bar the API, i keep well away from that). This means that i have learnt a lot in areas of VB that i don't use at work.

You keep asking and i'll keep answering (if i can).
Iain, thats with an i by the way!

Agree with Iain, you help people probably just because that's what you want, I thought that people needed to post to be heard but it's not the case, you have a inner mechanism that produces a good feeling when you help someone, i'm not sure how it works but Freud knows.

I'm also not a guru, and because of my spare time, it will take a while to get one to. But when I have some time left (in my free time, since I just can't find any time at work) I enjoy reading some questions on this forum. And if I know the answer, I usualy post it. If I don't, I might learn something myselve, by reading the answers others give.

    P.S.

I just passed the 70-100 exam yesterday. I'm half way to MCSD now.
