How to use Animated .gif files?
Hi, does anybody know of a control or something that can display and animate ready-made .gif files?
Thanks.

I believe the Gif89a control comes with it. It was on my computer when I installed VB - I have Win2k VB6 SP5.
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)

I remember seeing some code on planetsourcecode.com that did this without the use of additional controls. I'll see if I can find the link.

To be honest Dude, I think you'd be better off shying away from GIF's.
GIF is proprietary technology owned by CompuServe (last I knew) so the legalities of using it in a commercial or distributed app are somewhat vague.
If you can get away with using something else then you'd be best doing so...
Doesn't help, but it's my tuppence worth...

Hi, I downloaded the Gif89.dll and added it to the Reference. But how do I use it? Do I load the gif in a picture box? Do you have any tutorials?
Thanks!

For that gif89.dll try this.
Add it to the components list then make sure it is checked then click on the little pic of it in the tools toolbar and then add it like a picture box. you will have to load the picture using code if I can remember corectly
