    A LAN Question

    Hi

    (not a VB Question)

    i want to connect more than 2 PC in a LAN
    ( for a LAN Party with Half Life an UT)
    what is the best way?
    A HUB or is there some way that it is not so expensive?

    If its only 2 pc's yu should be abl to go directly NIC to NIC.

    well not a real lan party (normaly more than 500 PC..)

    but i want to connect 3 - 4 PCs

    If you are connecting more than 2 PC's then you will need a hub.

    Alternatively If the lan cards in the PC's have BNC conenctors you can use t-connectors and bnc cable to connect them. But this option is less reliable (and slower I think) plus by the time you have bought the cable, t-connectors and terminators it's probably just as much as a cheap hub and some patch cables.

    Where do you life? in Germany a Post cost more than 150$
    and then i have more than only 4 Connections...

    Hubs are the cheapest network devices that you can use to create a network. Another way would be using Bus Topology in which you only use a simple cable to connect with other computers on the network as Slaine said.
    I'd go with swtiches instead of hubs 'cause they are more reliable and better than hubs.

    You can get a 12 port hub on the www.pricewatch.com site for $36USD. The prices are less for smaller hubs.
