Would like to write a small program that for my wifes company.
I want to have her employees enter the building with a fingerprint reader. Can anyone of you tell me how it works and how do I connect such a reader to a computer and VB

We use Keytronic biologon boards with SmardCards http://www.keytronic.com/home/shop/shop.asp?sel=62
There is a biologon SDK for them avaliable from the manufacturers.
http://www.digitalpersona.com/ also make stuff.

I'm glad someone had an answer.. the thought of writing code to examine fingerprints is just a bit too much. Best to buy something oftentimes. Where are you-- have a Castle sometime?
Sorry, Chit Chat..
VB Code:
me.postcount=me.postcount-1

If you do find any code I'd be very interested

I dreamed up a novel way of using a computer to distinguish people by images of their eye's pupil / iris area. Sadly, I haven't got a high enough resolution camera to test the theory
Seems to work with mock-up pictures that I have drawn myself.
Not foolproof yet though, unfortunately, gimme a couple of years.
PS. Does anyone have a machine that can measure Blue-shift over a distance of about 5 inches? I'd love to hear from you if you have!

Iris biometrics are quite well established and are being beta tested for ATM machines now. See http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~jgd1000/

I might try to use a laser to measure the depth of the eye, I could test it on the two frogs at work, Boris and Karloff. Either it will work or it will drill a hole. What the hell they're only frogs!
Mwahahahaaaaa!
PS, I wonder what fish do if you shine a laser into their bowl? Sound scientific grounds for practical research methinks.
Notes to self:
Other places to play with laser:
- My mate's darkroom
- In a brain-surgeon's eyes during lobotomy operation.
- At my own front door when the Afghans are dropping Pave-Tack on us.
Nah, scratch the last one.
