Yes, my IBM ThinkPad 560X' motherboard have problem and cannot boot the machine. Now I buy a ThinkPad 240 and is thinking how I can copy some content from the old harddisk to the new disk.

Do you have any idea?

I have an old version of LL3 which you can put on a boot disk and run from dos, you can use it to synch two machines over serial or parrallel port. then copy all the files you need. it'll take an hour or so if you want to copy the whole drive but it's easy to use if you have a parrallel cable!

It's just a stand alone exe, keep it with me for emergencies like you're having.

What I ask is whether you have found the reason why the code cannot used to send bitmaps. Or you have post the corrected version?

Thank you for your advice. My problem is my notebook totally cannot boot up. So there is no way for me to use LL3.

What I trying to do is either one :

1. Find an obsolete notebook, and swap the harddisk with the one from 560X and try to boot it.

2. Use a device called Commuter I purchase long time ago (a small box holding the 2.5inch HD) which connected to the printer port or PCMCIA, so that it can be accessed. But when I try to download the driver from their website, it just hang up!

So I am still waiting for any brilliant and cheap idea to copy the data back (including all my email name list etc)

That's why you put the ll3 exe on the boot disk.

The boot disk'll take you to a dos prompt and probably load you HDD.

ll3 will run from the FDD and if it can see the HDD then you can load over the parrallel port.

Will a boot disk not even run?

if so, take the HDD out and attach it via IDE cable to a desk top system as a slave. the pin are different but you can get an adapter for a couple of dollars

In that case

remove the HDD,
take it to a computer store and say

"I need an adapter to connect this to an IDE cable to connect to a desktop type of computer, how much will it cost"

should only be a couple of dollars.

Attach it as a slave to another PC

get the data however you like
