Can anyone tell me when the Microsoft Winsock Control became available? Was it vb5? The question I ask I have an old project from vb4 that uses an 3rd party control, but it looks like the 3rd party control just offers exactly what the winsock control offers. Does this sound kosher?

Seeing as no-one else has replied yet...
I'm only 59.7% sure about this but is the winsock control part of the operating system (like Inet control and Webrowser comes with Internet Explorer) rather than a particular version of VB.
I've got a clean PC at home so I could instal VB4 on it and yet you know I suppose.

OK, so I installed VB4 (32 bit version) on my creaky old 486 and the winsock control does NOT appear to be available.
I hope this has been of help to you.
