C code gets changed by forum software

You will see a post using

ptr = localtime(<);

The < symbol is NOT what is in the text

Text  is ( & l t  )
I put spaces in between each char there, otherwise it turns into <

If you look at the text itself, you'll see the difference
This confused the heck out of several people.
