    New TV

No sure if it must be here or in General PC as it's not PC specific per say.

Anywho, my old LG TV Monitors FULL HD 25'' is starting to flick flick flick for 30 seconds+ before opening. I'm using this for TV and PC monitor as it has a TV tuner build in.
I wanted something similar but as it turns out all PC TV monitors are depricatred.
So I'm looking for a FULL HD TV to be also a PC monitor.
    I'm looking at these two:

    https://www.plaisio.gr/tileoraseis/t...ull-hd_4169867
    https://www.plaisio.gr/tileoraseis/t...ull-hd_3952584

Clearly Samsung has a better performance but I was kinda wondering about the energy class as LG is class F and Samsung class G.
Anyone knows if it's THAT of an issue in consumption?
Also another thing, will my HDMI 10 years old PC will have sound on the TV or I need the PC speakers?
And finally is there another TV that you might suggest for TV and Monitor?

    Thanks.

P.S. It also amazes me that my old monitor was FULL HD and cost about 200 Euros but now in order to find a FULL HD you need to pay more.
I mean what is the deal? Do we go backward?

    Re: New TV

I use both TV and PC.
I was inquiring a PC Monitor but in that case I should find a TV Tuner and Speakers etc. So it seems troublesome.

Yeah, my previous TV had 3 HDMI, 1 VGA, and 1 composite video inputs. It also had configuration options that were intended for PC video. My current TV lacks VGA in and the other PC video features.

    Re: New TV

Well I got HDMI so I would supposedly get sound from the PC(?)
I'm not sure about the energy class, as I've said it's F vs G but I don't know who much difference will it make as the LG is cheaper with F class and Samsung more expensive with G class.

HDMI sound probably depends on the devices on each end and their settings. Hard to image a TV with no sound hardware and speakers. Your PC might see its HDMI adapter as a sound device, possibly one that can be de-selected to use another sound device instead.

What HDMI version do you have on your computer? Are you using a video card (post make and model), or the onboard HDMI (post make and model of motherboard or computer)? With decent specs, the audio should be able to be sent out through the HDMI port. It is on my setup.

I have a 43 inch TCL 4K TV that I am currently using as a TV (cable), and a PC monitor, and it works well for both. Of course, I am not sitting 8 inches away from it either. You would need to be a bit farther back.

Actually, that is what I would have heard many years ago.

I generally sit at normal TV viewing distance for a 43 inch screen, and a web browser window on the PC display is readable at that distance.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Of course the consumption is different, one is F and the other is G. The ratings for power consumption run from Best (A) to Worse (G), so F and G are both at the bottom of the barrel as far as efficiency, i.e. they will consume quite a bit of power if left on for a year, compared to a refrigerator that is left on for a year.

So the Samsung has better video performance, and uses more power as a result. It is the nature of the technology that fast and bright video screens are going to require a relatively large amount of power annually compared to other technology, but F or G is not a large difference, so only you can decide if that is an issue. The Samsung says it typically uses 145W but can be a maximum of 235 watts. I couldn't find anything on the LG about power usage other than when its is off (standby). TVs are never really off anymore since they have to respond to remote controls. Both models say they use less than 0.5 watts when in standby.
I know my LG TV can be turned on over WiFi if desired, but that option is not enabled by default as that requires even more power while the TV is "Off", in order to have the WiFi receiver running in addition to the remote control receiver.

I say F or G, what does it really matter. What matters are the other specifications and reliability and capability that you want.

I'm not an electrical engineer so I'm not so sure how the power consumption works. If it's a minor difference then OK but since we are paying extremally high for our consultation in Greece, it's not a factor to be taken lightly.

    Don't forget radiation...

In 1968, Congress passed the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act, which enabled the FDA to regulate radiation emissions in electronics. Television manufacturers made color sets safer by installing glass plates to block excess radiation, and radioactive TVs soon disappeared from stores

I Remember the old CRT monitors and putting on a "filter" to protect your eyes.
In the end the glued filter would "slip" from the monitor turn up sideways. Good times.
I also remember how terrible the first LCD Monitors where. I if was on more than a 10' angle then I could not see anything.

In the mid 80s I would be working from home with those early BAUD rates and you could watch the computer screen being "painted" one row at a time.

Well back then an EIZO could cut the "radiation" down a bit , great monitors/
I just looked at the EIZO prices now. WOW! It wasn't cheap back in the tube days but now, just WOW!

Not radioactive as you are thinking of it. It is a question of ionizing radiation versus non-ionizing radiation. Ionizing would be something like x-rays, non-ionizing would be something like infrared (thermal) emissions.

That should be able to send the sound through the HDMI port. You may have to make sure that it is set up to do that, but it should work.

I'm thinking since the LG is doing flick flick flick and opens , maybe I should get the TV and do a dual monitor for now, until LG kicks the bucket.I can have the LG on DVI for now.

Off topic...I'm old enough to remember banging on the side of the TV would get it working again. I've done it many times. There are good reasons why that worked.

And it had nothing to do with the bad and boring program being broadcasted....

Back then you had three stations and UHF. UHF had odd ball local stations that were always fuzzy...

And...you had to get up off your butt to change the channels. And your little sister had to hold the aluminum foil antenna

Oh dear, i still remember my dad.... "Zvoni, since you're walking by the TV, please switch to first channel" LOL

Nevermind, plugging my C64 into the TV, when half an hour later my mom came into the living room and wanted to watch some stupid show.....

    This was always my favorite:

There was also a weak and clunky attempt to continue the series in the 80s and some godawful attempt at a woke version in the 90s but I doubt anyone watched those.

My favorites , excluding the known Warner and Disney and Tom & Jerry ,Ducktales, Thundercats, He-Man, Inspector Gadget, Sport Billy, Smurfs, Dennis the menace, The Real Ghostbusters. I kinda did not care at all for Scooby doo, Transformers and G.I. Joe and I was on the meh side about TMNT, Flintstones. Lately I'm watching Simpsons and is great but I never watched it as a kid (probably too filthy for Greek TV).

    ROADRUNNER, man!

i remember some 25 years ago a friend of mine managed to get hold of a video VHS-Tape with 12 hours nonstop of Roadrunner.

yes, we did it….. we gave ourselves the Roadrunner marathon through one night on a weekend.
next morning we went out for coffee and breakfast.
Lord, how the people thought us stoned out of our minds, since every third „word“ from one of us was „Meep meep“

Roadrunner falls into the known Warner category.
If I had to pick there I would first go for Daffy.

Whew. Not too disturbing, really... until you see that heart in the corner which casts a different light on the entire thing.

    Re: New TV

So I'm coming back to this.
I had done some tests with my old LG (still working with flick flick flick to open) and a kinda crappy but only 4 years old 24 inch TV.
I had 2 cable to be sure that it's not an issue.
I also have a 4-5 years old HP Laptop with HDMI exit (intel integrate graphics, UHI something can't recall )
First thing I've noticed when using HD on both PC and Laptop on the LG monitor and the smaller one is the crap crappy crap crap text font. It's like I'm had a couple of whiskeys and then drank a few beers and the ate an egg.
I looks like puke. Also the video looks somewhat puke but not that much as the text.
I will post at the end a link I found So maybe it's fixed on newer TV but how can I be sure?

Next the PC with the HDMI could not connect as much as I tried to the newer crappy TV. No signal. The laptop connected.
Now I'm very skeptic on what should I do. If I get a TV and the HDMI look like crap or worse it cannot connect to the new TV then I will be left with only a TV.
I I get a monitor that DOES NOT have speaker I don't know how the heck I'm going to get TV sound.
The last thing I would try tomorrow is get a RGB to HDMI cable from job and see how it will show on the LG TV.
Any thoughts? Also if the PC Monitor have speaker and I get a TV to HDMI adapter, is it 100% sure that I will have sound? Else how the heck do you connect a non speaker monitor to the TV? I can't get my head around this.

    I found this for text:

    https://forums.tomshardware.com/thre...my-tv.2027857/
"TVs tend to assume any signal coming over HDMI is a video signal. Video is overscanned even if it's HDMI. In other words, even though your blu-ray player is sending the TV a 1920x1080 image, the TV is enlarging it so only about 1890x1060 pixels are displayed. The edges of the image are overscanned and fall past the edges of the screen, so are not displayed. There is no 1:1 pixel mapping.

This works fine for video but is terrible for computer displays. The jaggies you describe are a telltale sign that this is happening.

Look in the TV's options for a "direct" or "1:1" or "computer" mode or something that sounds like one of those terms (I think Samsung calls it JustScan on their newer TVs; Game mode might work too). This will turn overscan off and restore 1:1 pixel mapping. While you're at it, you probably also want to turn off all video processing (sharpening, deblocking, compression softening, etc) for this particular HDMI port. These are unnecessary with a computer image."

    Re: New TV

I was walking to the store the other day when I saw a third option you probably shouldn't consider: There was a 'something' that I recognized as being either a TV or large computer monitor, which had been pulled out of a local canal where it had clearly resided for at least a year, judging from the amount of algae on it.
