    Is that an OpenGL card?

Be sure to read the game's readme. In Descent 3, you could fix practically any problem if you read the readme.

Okay, here's another stupid question: did you get the latest service packs for the OS, the latest updates for the game, and the latest video drivers?

Well what do you mean about not seeing far? Because it's supposed to be really dark and all

games will have a background picture....such as a sky or sunset. In max payne this background shows up in front of the environment when you are looking at something far away. so if I'm looking across a room sometimes it just isn't there, its just sky....until I walk into it.

Is there an option for fogging in the game? Also, can you choose between Direct3D and OpenGL in a launcher or something?

Fog's off, OpenGL isn't supported by the game.

    It doesn't support OpenGL!?

Are you sure he has DirectX 8.0a? (Windows XP has 8.1 .) Also, what OS is he running?

I have this problem too in HL (with a Savage4, my secondary accelerator). It clips to i believe 1024, making sniping dead easy (the characters seem to be always drawn but 'cause of it I don't play CS anymore [it'd be cheating]). Anyways, if I ever find the problem to it, I'll tell you.

    (Just a heads-up)
