Network stuff
I have a Windows 98 machine and a 2000 machine. When I am on 98 trying to access 2000 files over the file sharing network, I am given a prompt for a password for the share IPC$.
I did some Googling, and it seems that the username and password on the 98 machine must be identical to a u/p pair on the 2000 machine for the prompt to go away. Am I right or what's up?

Methinks so. All 9x machines have to have their username/password set up as an account on the NT computer.
Doh? Yes. Its a pain in the arse.

So I have to make a matching u/p pair on the Win98 machine (or vice versa)?

Idon't know if you have to make a name on the 98 machine, but definitely the 2000 one.

Whatever username/password combo is used to log onto the 98 machine must be an account on the NT machine.

Now both computers have the account pair mp3s/mp3s. But it no work yet. Maybe I just have to reboot the 98 one, but someone else is using it.
