    exe and trojans

Not mentioning any names (this could just be coincidence), but since running an exe that someone posted on the General QA board, I get warnings from my firewall that a prog is trying to access the internet.

The prog name is a symbol.

How do I get rid of the thing?

We can't help you until we know the name of the program.

Could you take a screen shot what your firewall reports? (it prtscn and paste into your favorite image editor)....

BTW, your firewall should have a log file...

Thanks Dennis. Ill try to get a screen shot next time.

The log converts the symbol to a vertical line and doesnt say anything about a path.

friend of mine ran some utility on my computer (cant remember the name of it) that listed all running progs with checkboxes by them. One prog was just a checkbox with a blank line. We unchecked it and havent had a reoccurrence yet. I still want to get rid of the prog though.
