It''s not the only one. there was a spate of Dell ones running too... and another one I noticed yesterday... I forget now who it was. Main reason I notice it is because it takes up the entire height of my screen on my chromebook.

    Re: Yet another giant ad

I reported this to our ad operations team. They'll zap it out.

Capture a screen shot when you see these and send it to me in an email ([email protected]). I can forward these to our ad team and they will get them removed quickly. VBForums is set up different than all of our other sites, so these ads only impact here. They have to manually flag them to not show here.

The easy solution is for me to have the site template here changed to use a right rail like forums.codeguru.com. Then the size of that ad wouldn't matter.

    Re: Yet another giant ad

I think it might be time to build the right rail on VBForums and shift the article list and ad to that right rail. That would negate this issue. It would also move the content up a little bit......

I don't think it would be a problem as long as that right rail isn't any wider (or much wider, allowing for some margin) than the ads currently are. Even on my puny 13" chromebook, I don't think that would be too intrusive.

You can look on Codeguru's forum (forums.codeguru.com) or nearly any of our other forums and see how wide it is - pretty much the width of the ads.

No no no no .....If that's the alternative, I'll gladly live with the tall ads on top.

C++ programmers will dismiss you as a cretinous simpleton for your inability to keep track of pointers chained 6 levels deep and Java programmers will pillory you for buying into the evils of Microsoft. Meanwhile C# programmers will get paid just a little bit more than you for writing exactly the same code and VB6 programmers will continue to whitter on about "footprints". - FunkyDexter
