firewall log event. what does it mean?

Is someone trying to do something they shouldn’t be doing? I’ve recently install a freeware firewall called ‘Zone Alarm’ on my home p.c. I’ve noticed a couple of log events which looks a bit unusual

    Example:

The firewall has blocked Internet access to your computer (FTP) from 194.143.66.126 (FTP) [TCP Flags: S].

Is someone trying to access my p.c.?

quite probably its just a port scanner. Could even be your on ISP, it does happen. 194 prefix IP's are usually UK based, so that may be it.

I would get used to it. I get port scanned at least once a week, most of the time its every other day. Its just like the warez dialers, way back when. Just people (Mostly wannabe hackers) looking for something to play with. Atleast you have some type of protection. This should keep you from getting into to much trouble.
