another memory question
I wa wondering if it was possible to check to see if a DIMM module was EDO or not.
what my problem is I installed 128Mb DIMM in my moms computer to add with her (2)32Mb DIMMs. I added them and it won't even get to the post. it adds up the memory in the memory check and tehn it stops after it counts the correct amount of memory. then I hit reset and then it passes the post and gets to the other screen where it starts loading windows and stops when it tries to read IDE0 (which is nothing). the HD is IDE1. if I take out both 32Mb it runs fine. if I add one of the 32's it does the same thing. So I was thinging that the 32Mb's are EDO. I am not sure if you can run EDO and nonEDO together. I don't think you can.
so does anybody have an idea.

I don't think EDO applies to DIMMs, I thought it was SIMM only. All I can think of is:
1. Parity / non-parity mismatch
2. The motherboard doesn't support that combination of sizes - check the manual.
I refuse to tie my hands behind my back and hear somebody say "Bend Over, Boy, Because You Have It Coming To You".

ya Mike, I was thinking the same thing. It seems like I seen EDO DIMMS but I might be wrong. it might be a Parity / non-parity mismatch. the mother board has 3 spots for DIMMS so I would think it would be ok. as things go it might just be bad ram. it is doing some funny things with just 128Mb in.
