Hi Guys,

The intention at this point is to convert an already published application, unofficially from russian to english and so I am hoping you can help!

I have found various resource editors that will allow me to edit the binary of an application, and update the wording of labels etc, however, I need some means by which you can copy and paste label content of an already public application.

So if a form has three check boxes, with three labels, what I want to do (after its been published) is to (by some means) copy the (default) un-highlightable content of the three labels of the check boxes, copy into some form of translation app, then use the resource editor to update the app with the english translation.

so, does anyone know if this is possible? does anyone know of an app out there that will, I suppose, allow you to 'copy the uncopiable'?

I have an old program called "ResHacker" which does the job! Unfortunately, the site for the program is no longer around but I still have the executable I can send you the link for the upload via pm if you would like?

that program may or may not do what he wants. It depends on whether or not the program has resources. vb programs for example don't. I don't suppose this russian program has an external file for application text? Some programs that support numerous regions will have a second file in their directory with all text resources in them.

vb programs for example don't.

Not sure what you are referring to? I tested the program on a compiled vb6 example and it displayed the information in the program.

Will try that software later, but if your able to clarify - does this allow you to take the existing text, and copy / paste it so that I can convert it into a vague english translation?

If you are referring to copy and pasting from the reshacker then yes you can. The only thing which, I mentioned in pm is that Res Hacker compiles the script to .rc format but you could use the existing resource if to add the changes to.
