Aaaaaaaarrrrghhh!
I accidentally just deleted about a weeks work and can't recover it.
The REALLY annoyingthing is I've been trialling TFS and had the project in source control. Just yesterday I decided that I was at a stage where I could demo it so I took everything out of source control so I'd have a nice clean slate to start from. Damn, Damn, Damn, Damn Damn!
You may now proceed to point at me and laugh.

<Shakes Head>FD Why oh Why oh Why!!! if you had said i just hadn't got round to putting it into source control yet, then yes we could point and laugh with at least some understanding.... but no you actually had your code already in source control and CHOSE to remove it!
Thats just a bit daft. (I was going to give some analogy something like putting a parachute on and then removing it just before you jump out of a plane, but to be honest i couldn't think of anything the matched the level of stupidity you have showed)
can you tell i enjoyed writing the above??? :0)

To be fair, it wasn't formally in source control and it was a project I rarely work on. That's why I used it to test out TFS. It was one of those moments where you say to yourself "meh, what's the worst that can happen"... and then find out. The project itself is trivially recoverable from backups but the prospective changes I'd made to it that had been shelved for over a month and are now suddenly wanted again, well they're not. I'd completely forgotten about them.

Yes. Yes I can. But I deserve it.

Something big was going to happen and it all ended at this one. Let's think like that Funky. That's what we say in my place, when something like that happens.
If my harddisk shows signs of fever, then all my projects and everything would be gone. It is an aged one with more than 4 years I believe. :P
Whenever I keep some $$ and plans to upgrade the PC, I always ends up spending the money for some other reasons. Maybe for family or to pay some bills. I believe that, I will be going to taste what you are feeling now, in a few months if I don't go with the upgrading of my PC. :'(

Managed to recreate the work. It took about a day. Kinda makes you wonder what I was playting at first time round.

No, that sounds about right. Solving a problem the second time is generally much faster than solving it the first. Probably because you already know the answer and spend less time thinking.

Re: Aaaaaaaarrrrghhh!
I lost about three months worth of work last year when my new SSD died. Like you I hadn't put it in to source control and my backup strategy was reckless (no backups). It took about a week or two to recreate it.

I was working on my car once, got it to fire for the first time in 3 months. Then I dropped a washer into my intake runner on the driver side cylinder head, that wasn't good.
