Why should the thread be closed because its about religion ? Just because religion is silly doesn't mean we can have an intelligent conversation about it.

C++ programmers will dismiss you as a cretinous simpleton for your inability to keep track of pointers chained 6 levels deep and Java programmers will pillory you for buying into the evils of Microsoft. Meanwhile C# programmers will get paid just a little bit more than you for writing exactly the same code and VB6 programmers will continue to whitter on about "footprints". - FunkyDexter

I'm curious as to who did do this?

    No, maybe I'm not.

The premise is this: The individuals involved will probably feel guilty and repent at some point. If they do, they will go to some kingdom of glory.
    Do not read this sentence.
You read that last one, didn't you?
Darn. You now read the previous two.

I donno. Heaven(assuming the Christian version of things) doesn't seem all that fun. Its not very enticing. I mean drinking milk and honey all day(I want some beer man) and we have the oh so wonderful opportunity to worship Yahweh all day every day for all eternity. 1 week of that and I'd be ready to blow my brains out with a shotgun. Gimme Hell any day of the week!! The Devil sounds way more charming

Well, perhaps there will be some mead-iators up there.

Other than that, I've always found the premise of your argument to be the best one against orthodox Christianity: Nobody can describe a heaven that doesn't sound pretty hellish. One of the reasons I go on month long walk-abouts is because it sharpens the world. In normal life, I'm warm, dry, well-fed (perhaps too much so), and have all needs reasonably well met with little effort. The valleys of modern life were filled in, but the fill was obtained by shaving down the peaks. I can't enjoy a glass of water as much when it is always available, nor can I really enjoy being warm and dry while it is pouring rain outside. All conventional descriptions of heaven derive from removing the valleys entirely, and replacing them with .... nothing. The only people that could appeal to are those whoes life is a long string of the lowest lows. Everybody else has to talk around the fact that heaven sounds so frighteningly boring.

Spot on!! I couldn't have said it better myself.

Also to add, there is a certain monotony to the conventional ideas of Heaven which only multiplies its flaws. Living forever in an existence that never changes is completely intolerable.

I picture heaven like an all-white WingHouse or Hooters, I will be greeted with a pitcher of beer, and a 60" LCD TV. The Bears will be playing every day, so will the University of Miami, and they will both win. Jesus will be there with me, he will have a mullet. Everybody will have a Russian accent, including the women. It will be perfect.

That's awesome. Where do I sign up?

Actually, I'd make some changes to that, especially the menu...and perhaps the dress code.

    Hi,

There are 72 virgins waiting for those who commit fatal acts of terrorisim. The dirty little secret is that 99.9% of the virgins are males. The terrorist will receive their well deserved punishment in the end.

I hope you're talking about the colour of the building

Well, I didn't picture it a building, more like an open courtyard. Chuck Norris will be there too, and Kevin Hart. I might look into opening a restaurant and naming it "Heaven". I have some pretty good ideas. Of course I will have stairs out front, not tall ones though.

Hmm, Chuck Norris isn't dead, and I don't know Kevin Hart. Would a living guy showing up in heaven be considered a ghost?

Well see, Chuck Norris is everywhere and nowhere, at the same time. Kevin Hart is not dead, but he will probably die before me. I would consider a living man in Heaven to be a ghost.

Well that's a novel idea....a ghost state being relative to viewer's own state.

Yes, and like any other novel idea, a book could be written about it.....though not by me.
