Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
The forum has been very erratic from my side, slow and often pages will not load or require several attempts. The same thing is happening on Code Guru which was upgraded before this site. Many times when I try to post a quick reply I will get a message askign if I want to navigate away from this page and other times I do not. Sometimes it posts and stays there on the edit page making it look as though it did not post which leads to double posts other times it just hangs and will not go back to the thread or I get a db error.
In general the forums were much better before the update. I hope it gets sorted soon and if not then May be a good idea to revert back to the former software which worked pretty well.

Just when you think you've seen it all, today Post Quick Reply posts the message (after enough time to defeat an entire army of hideous creatures from the polluted lagoon) but also takes you to the advanced editor where you have the opportunity to see your message all over again and double post to your heart's content! Surely there's been enough time to realise that this just isn't going to get any better and either find a new solution that actually works or just go back to the less beautiful but solidly functional way it was! Did nobody read the definition?
Upgrade, n. the process by which, at considerable additional expense, the software developer responsible for your hair loss and general anxiety offers to replace all the bugs you have now learned to work around with a new crop of the mysterious, unsolvable and bizarre leading to psychotic breakdowns and (if you're lucky) stress induced death.

That's interesting when clicking on the link to view a thread it seems to go to the last post made after your last visit to a thread instead of the last page of the thread itself.
when you quote a post could you please do it via the "Reply With Quote" button or if it multiple post click the "''+" button then "Reply With Quote" button.
If this thread is finished with please mark it "Resolved" by selecting "Mark thread resolved" from the "Thread tools" drop-down menu.

Id like that but the amount of internal changes they must have made to facilitate the changes might make going back just as painful as going forward even more so. Its probably best to just stick it out until they iron out all the kinks.

It's been over a month and, if anything, it's actually getting kinkier! How long are we expected to endure a site that navigates like we were still using 56k dial-up (if you're old enough to remember those days you'll know what I mean!)

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Actually sometimes I think a 56k connection would be faster I just tryied to post in the Vb.Net area and got that popup saying Are you sure you want to navigate away from this page, clicked yes and waited 3 1/2 minutes watching the little progress bar creep across the bottom with no change to the screen. Finally I clicked the stop button and went back to the forum area wondering if my post was actually posted or not. It was but this seems to happen a lot with this new software.
I really am starting to wish the forum would have stayed as it was, this new stuff is a major pain.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Scenario:
Some doofy member mistakes this for a social media site and wants to glom onto you like a limpet by "requesting you be a friend."
Problem:
You go through the agony of numerous failed page loads and funky navigation script that falls over repeatedly and you finally get to the place to reject it.
Then you click on the "submit change" button - sometimes it does nothing, sometimes you get some wacky Mac-style hourglass animation... and then nothing.
Rinse, Repeat
[strike]Doofy's "friend" request is still there. Still a hung "notification" as well.[/strike]
Got it, gone now.

i notice that brad and other reps no longer post any response here
have they just given up?
will this response actually make a post?
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next
dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part
come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed

On an upside, I noticed that the highlight tags look fixed ;]
Edit -
Something I noticed today was that my settings isn't keeping up with the subscriptions. Like I've noticed a few post today where it there was an updated post in a thread that I'd posted in, yet it wasn't showing up in my settings. That's not good for me because I basically navigate mainly from my settings.

I was unable to log in late last night for several hours because of that. I was able to navigate the site but every time I tried to log in, I kept getting "Database Error". There's been a resurgence of this error recently. It happens quite frequently now.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Ok this is really bordering on unusable. A while ago I made a post in a thread and when I did it just froze on submit waiting for the website to respond. I wasn't sure it was actually posted until I went back to the thread on another browser tab. I also had to make a number of edits to the post and each time I submitted it, it froze the same way. It was really excruciating and on top of that, the last edit I made didn't go through, so its not as if I can get used to it as its unpredictable, you never know if it would post or not. I actually have to save posts in Word before pressing submit for fear I'd lose them to a time out or database error. I may have to limit any posts I make here for a while to simple 1-3 line posts, an acceptable loss as it takes only a few seconds to a couple minutes to compose such posts.
And another strange thing is that my post didn't bump the thread. I can see the post when I enter the thread but outside, its as if I never posted.
Please please you guys fix it soon. I'm sure yall are doing your best but this is fast becoming unusable at its current performance.
EDIT:
Oh god ....even posting this is frustrating....after making me wait like 20 seconds, it just went to advanced because it said I had to wait 30 seconds between posts....my last post before this like 10 minutes ago.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
20 seconds is not bad actually I have saw it take up to 4 minutes
I've saw that frozen behaviour several times over the last several days both on posting and other times when trying to open a thread or the settings page or pretty much anything other times it works fine. Same with the edits sometimes they go right through other times it will hang and of those times sometimes the post is updated with the changes where other times it is not.

Do you have the vBulletin team still fixing it? I think the forum was updated more than a month ago. But the main performance issues are not yet resolved completely.
I think, you guys could sue vBulletin for providing a buggy forum software !

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Oh god, I give up.....every time I post, its taking forever to acknowledge and I can't even be sure it posted. Sometimes it posts and switches to advanced mode telling me that I need to wait 30 seconds(in effect its double posting). Sometimes it just sits there waiting and you have to switch to a new tab and navigate back to the thread to see if the post was successful. These things used to happen like 1 in every 5 posts, which I'm prepared to tolerate but now its happening with every post, since the last 24 hours. I've been also getting database errors with great frequency. Its like the first week of the upgrade. I'm trying but this is really unusable. I'm gonna take a lil break(from posting at least, navigation is still fairly usable) and give the guys time to work out these issues.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
I noticed something while posting a thread in the codebank today. If you use the numerical or bullet list, or as well as adding an attachment or image, the post scrolls all the way to the top. Usually it's not a problem because I don't usually post long things, but in the case of posting a codebank thread I was getting lost in my bullet points because I couldn't read which one I previously posted.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
I noticed another intermitten issue this morning where when I went to a forum area and the listing of posts was not formatted correctly. I got just a text display where the post info that would normally be all on one line was about 3 or 5 lines and difficult to read. I saw this once when I selected the VB6 area here and had the same thing happen once this morning on code guru.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
I've had another problem today with the forum. When I posted in a thread, it didn't go to the top of the subforum as well as not showing up in "new post". In fact the last thread posted was at 9:45 and it's actually 10:30. But even though it's not showing up at the top of the subforum, it is showing as the last post in the mainview(the page when you navigate to vbforums.com). That's annoying, I can forsee a few new members getting teed off that their post isn't showing up.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Everything seems to be based on SEARCH - NEW POSTS is that way - SUBSCRIBED threads is that way.
I don't trust the search. I've seen it not "include" everything I know it should...
Actually I pretty much don't look around the forums much anymore at all - sad...

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
Seems I have been seeing formatting issues more often the last couple of days, at first I thought it was the thread listing but it is the settings page that keeps giving me formatting issues. The area where it would normally show the menu bar and then the list of subscribed threads are showing up as you may expect in plain text mode. Usually if I hit refresh the page will reload with the correct formatting. Prior to the weekend I had only saw this once but over the last 3 days have saw it several times and a few times on the code guru site as well.

vBulletin.com runs a later version(same major version though) and it works superbly. The software itself isn't buggy, its just this implementation of it.

Re: FORUM ISSUES: Report Upgraded Issues in this thread
And now it's really broken! the toolbar in the quick reply area is missing... no, that's not right... it's there... it's the button images that's missing... the tooltips work, so that's something... but the menu that's supposed to be on the upper right where it says "Welcome" and has links to notifications, and settings (which I use A LOT!) have wandered off and are now hiding underneath the ad up at the top, making them unusable... what is it about VBF that's so different from CG that we get all these problems and they don't?
