    Question Windows Shell

    Hi everyone

I am wondering if anyone can give me a link or some information on integrating the windows shell with an application or maybe even a dll.

Basically what im looking to do is the user will be able to right click any file and an option will appear i then want this to launch the program and run a function i also want file types for my program to have another option which launches the program and runs a different function.

How can this be done i was thinking of passing in a number somehow which corresponds to which option on the right click was selected this then runs through an if statement in main which then branches of to the right function.

Ill just add i can already put the options in the windows shell but i don't know how to pass parameters from the right click event into a program or even into a dll.

    Thanks for the Help

What you want to do is called a Context Menu Handler, and it is a type of shell extension.

I know I've done it before, but I still recommend the Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing Shell Extensions by Michael Dunn. Click this smily:

You'll need to have basic knowledge of ATL before reading this.
