[RESOLVED] Access Forms - Subform key not populating
How can you populate subform key fields automatically based on the related Main form's key field, when the key is not an autonumbered field? Simple parent/child relationship, the 'link master fields' and 'link child fields' are set correctly, and have done it plenty of times fine with autonumbered fields. The problem now is that the primary/foreign key is not an autonumbered field, just a value the user types in that is unique. After filling the primary key value correctly in the main form and then trying to enter in an associated record in the subform, the key isn't automatically filled in for the child record. What am I missing?

Re: Access Forms - Subform key not populating
Resolved it. Key field's name was 'Tag', and since that is a property of all the controls, I think it caused some problems with the way I was trying to initialize the default value or something. Just renamed the fields to something else and it fixed the problem.

Re: Access Forms - Subform key not populating
That makes sense, I'm glad you found it.
As you now have it sorted out, could you please do us a little favour, and mark the thread as Resolved?
(this saves time reading for those of us who like to answer questions, and also helps those who search to find answers)
You can do it by clicking on "Thread tools" just above the first post in this thread, then "Mark thread resolved". (like various other features of this site, you need JavaScript enabled in your browser for this to work).
