Hardware failure on hp dv2700
Hi Guys,
i left my laptop on overnight connected to a second monitor, on the day after the screen was frozen noisy and would not responce, i forced a shut down and i restarted it did a beeped (1 short loud tone). i replaced the battery and ROM's but did not make a difference, so its now narrowed to graphic card.
any one knows if it can be changed or is it attached to the mother board, it is a mission to de-assemble it so thought i should ask first
Thanks

You may be able to fix it by re-applying fresh thermal paste between the heatsink and the graphic chip. Open the bottom cover of your laptop to get to the cpu heatsink/fan assembly. Remove the seatsink/fan assembly by undo all the screws holding it in place on the motherboard. Clean off the old dried up thermal paste on both surfaces (heatsink and chip) for the CPU and GPU. Reapply a thin layer of good thermal paste, such as artic silver 5, and reinstall the heatsink.
Good luck.
