    Resolved [RESOLVED] Sound device list

I was trying to record streaming music using Audacity but could not select the sound card mixer which does not appear in the device list. Does that mean I forgot to install a driver or something after my last Windows install?

Look in Device Manager, do you see any unknown or disabled device listed there?

No, and I have checked the entire device tree.

    Re: Sound device list

If the sound is integrated into the motherboard then search online for your motherboard model and "sound driver" and your operating system, if it's PCI (or something like that), then just search for the sound card model and operating system.
If you don't know the model, then just open up your PC, and find out...

It's integrated. As I had the motherboard Cd handy I reinstalled the audio driver just in case but still nothing but the microphone appears in the recording device list.

The mixer is back: probably I had forgotten to restart the system, which I later did for a non-related reason but I didn't notice until I started to fool around with it today.
