visual studio 2010 can't move cursor
Hi guys,
I have this problem every so often in VS2010. What will happen is I'll be working along and run the program then stop debugging. When I get back to text editor to change something the cursor will be stuck. It won't let me move it with the arrow keys and I can't type anything in. I can move it with the mouse but when I do that I still can't type anything in at the new position. The only way to get this to go away is to close out VS2010 and restart it again.
Anyone have this problem?

I haven't seen that. Have you gotten SP1 which just came out? It fixed a bunch of things, so it would be worth a try.

Make sure you didn't start the Macro Recorder (CTRL-SHIFT-R). You see the macro record options in the toolbar if you did.
Its incredibly irritating for an Eclipse user, as that hot-key is reserved for finding a resource in Eclipse :P

Re: visual studio 2010 can't move cursor
I have seen it before, a couple times actually. What fixes it for me is just closing the document you want to type it and re-open it. I still don't know if it's a bug or I accidently pressed some shortcut but it only happens very occasionally so I just close and re-open the document when it happens.
My guess is that the document goes into read-only mode or something, but I've no clue how

That.... is something I did not see
Who knows, perhaps the OP has waited for 7 months being unable to type

Re: visual studio 2010 can't move cursor
I'm kind of wondering how you even found the question to answer, but as a general rule, answering a question that long after the fact isn't done. That is probably more due to the fact that questions that old tend to have been forgotten or are buried so far down that nobody sees them. However, it would be likely that the OP will still get a notice about this, so I would guess that it's ok.
One thing, though: Ctrl+Shift+R doesn't appear to do anything in VS2010 or VS2008, so I'm not sure what your answer is related to.

Re: visual studio 2010 can't move cursor
I have VS2010 installed and set for C# settings. I also have a couple of 3rd party plug-ins installed (R#, VS2010 Tools, etc). So maybe it is one of them.
Also, I have a hard time not answering if I may know the answer... someone might search for this same exact item (I was searching for a similar one) after all.. even months or years after the fact.
PS: I think the date on the forums might be messed? I joined Yesterday, not sept 11 :|

You wouldn't happen to be Czech would you? I hear they get postdated frequently.
I don't have the C# settings, but I would guess that what you are seeing is one of the plug-ins.

Something to consider would be a poorly written third party IDE extension
