Windows 8 / MS adding .appx to VS 2012
Microsoft's first Window 8 tablet app spotted
snippets:
Bloggers have uncovered an application for Windows 8 that blurs the line between Windows, the web, and mobile using a new architecture from Microsoft.
The application is called Modern Reader, Microsoft's own version of PDF Reader.
Thurrott says that Microsoft is already adding .appx to Visual Studio 2012. The apps themselves can be written in C#, Visual Basic, and C++.

Re: Windows 8 / MS adding .appx to VS 2012
I found the linked article http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/11...rlight_future/ more significant. SilverLight headed back to the minor leagues of WPF and Phoney 7.
A brilliant afterthought to the heavy WPF in 2007, Silverlight quickly became Microsoft's Flash. In 2010, it became a victim of history. With Apple banning Flash from the iPad and iPhone, and with Silverlight still not running on iOS, being "the other" Flash was a dangerous and limiting label.
