Can anyone help me analyze a mini dump file from a Win XP system to find what driver is causing a crash issue?
It is my wife's system and whenever I try to run a full backup using either Symantec Backup exec or a Macrium Reflect disk image to a USB Drive it goes blue screen about a minute into the backup.
I was able to get a drive image with Macrium in safe mode, Symantec will not run in safe mode.
I had the system set to restart on stop errors so I never did get to see the BS message. I Don't believe the problem is specific to the USB device as I use it for file copy backups with Sync Toy and have also used other drives in other USB ports with the same results. The problem seems to be when a program accesses the system at a low enough level as in a disk image and doesn't happen in safe mode (Macrium wrote to the same usb drive in safe mode).
I'll check out your earlier post when I get the chance, and the next time I try I will set the system to stop so I can see the BS error.
but if you just tell us what the message is that the blue screen shows then we might be able to give you more help without you doing the debugging. Also, if it only happens when you try to use this USB device then it is likely that it is either a problem with the driver for this USB device or a hardware problem with the device itself (or the USB port/controller you are plugging it into).
