problem?

Sounds like you tried to do a recordset.update before you did a recordset.addnew or a recordset.edit

But thats just basing my opinion on next to no information no idea of the application, the code that called it, where it called it, what it was using, what it was connecting to, which record was just read, how many records exist in the table, what the SQL query was, if the database was on the same machine as the application, what they were doing, why they were doing it, what colored underwear he was wearing, which version of windows, which version of visual basic, are his shoe laces tied, did he have lunch today, can he read the help manual that is installed, has he tried looking it up on MSN and whether he has paid his taxes this year
