An unusual setup
I am thinking of a setup that's pretty unusual. I don't know if it's at all possible. But I want to try it:
I have a Win XP machine at home that's used by me and my bro. Obviously when he is using it, I can't and when I am using it, he can't. I want to set it up so two users can use the machine simultaneously. I know you can connect two monitors to a machine. But two keyboard/mouse pairs? I don't know. Will a USB hub solve this?
And then the actual problem: Does WinXP support two users working with it simultaneously?
I have an Ubuntu installation CD, so if required/possible, I could switch to Ubuntu. I am sure my bro wouldn't care much as Ubuntu has pretty much everything he would like to use.

Re: An unusual setup
Despite 2 mice and 2 keyboards, there's still just one mouse cursor. Yes, you can have many peripheral devices connected to it, though.
Buy a better machine and give him the old one.

Sorry, the answer is "No". You can hook up two screens, and probably get two mice to work, but you will only have one active form with one active control. That means both you and your bro's input will go to the same place, whatever was activated last.
Solution: Get a another PC.

Everything that has a computer in will fail. Everything in your life, from a watch to a car to, you know, a radio, to an iPhone, it will fail if it has a computer in it. They should kill the people who made those things.- 'Woz'

Is there an (slightly distorted) echo in here?

Yes. A long time ago, I remember a setup done where there was just one XBox running two monitors with two keyboards. I don't think this software was used, but something similar was definitely in the works.
