Administrator Control over website

What are all the essential and advanced features to be builded up for a administrator control over a social networking website,forums?

Are you asking what an administrator should control over a social network website? Like as in you are building the website?

Or are you asking what are the responsibilities that an admin of a social network or admin of a forum has?

Well it really depends on how much control you want to give them. If they are the only admin, then they should be able to edit every aspect of the site from the admin panel.

For example, the admin panel for vBulletin is very extensive. You can edit just about anything on the forum from the admin panel.

I think admins are the site owner, then they must have full controls over the website. right?

Hey,

I am really not sure what you are getting at here.

You will use a multitude of controls to allow admin's to change settings. This will range from dropdownlists to select values, to radiobuttons and checkboxes to apply options, to textboxes for input etc.

There is no one control that will do all this for you, you will have to build up the UI based on your needs.

Hey sorry, i think you mistook what i had asked.Controls in the sense, i am asking for the various administrations like, they can handle users, to make active or delete users, add moderators etc. Like these what are all the essential features to be builded???

You are going to have to tell us exactly what your website includes, i.e. what function it performs before anyone is going to be able to give you specific help with your question.

Yes, I saw that, but what does that include:

- Photos
- Blogging
- Forums
- Wiki
- Content Management
- Friendships/Partnerships
- etc etc etc

Each of these elements will have very different administration needs.

My Site includes Forums and Friendships/Partnerships

Allow the admins to control every aspect of the site.

They should be able to control the basics like Edit site name, database info, owner info, contact us info, etc.

They should be able to edit any information on anyones profile page. Remove friends, delete account, ban accounts, edit relationships, moderate posts, photos, videos, etc, etc

I would suggest making a moderator control panel as well and have moderators in charge of certain areas. As your site gets larger, it will be hard to manage. You wouldnt want 100 people having access to the admin panel, but give them access to certain admin features.
