[RESOLVED] Can someone help?
I would like help from someone to make a small program for me.
What it would need to do it scan a .log file for a set string, then add the numbers together to provide an average/hour.
If thats possible?

Re: Can someone help?
To be completely honest. I am not sure. I just would like something thats simple and small.
I was told that VB was the best to use, but after having looked at it, I don't think I personally could do something like that myself.
If it can read from a constantly updated text file, add together the numbers from certain sections of the file (e.g. you have gained 1,000 XP) and then display the average result, I would be happy.
I hope that would explain it better?

Go do some reading on writing to/from files. It is actually very easy. You'll just have to run a loop for each line that takes the string, removes the non-numbers and adds it to a string using something like:
Code:
mystring += "+1234"
Then when all the lines are ran through and the values recorded, simply run through the string to count the number of + signs, add the numbers together using the trim command to a new variable then dividing the result by the number of + signs for an average.
I know it seems complex but it's actually rather easy. If you need more help just ask.
