Dylan says (4:59 PM):
and Mac is like... putting the big square block in the big square hole. and the small cylinder block in the circle hole
Adam says (5:00 PM):
yes less pieces = less problems
Dylan says (5:00 PM):
less pieces = less customizations
Adam says (5:01 PM):
but u dont care about that stuff cuz when u customize it then it wont work as its was made
Dylan says (5:01 PM):
Mac is just for people who dont know how to fix a computer. Windows is for real computer users.

That line pretty much sums up Macs from the mid-90s. You could customize, which might be as simple as adding a printer, or moving an icon, but once you did, your computer might never work again.

What an adventure it must have been.

Re: Mactards...
The real adventure was that serious Mac fanatics had to maintain that Mac was vastly better and more stable than Windows while dealing with the fact that the OS was incredibly unstable. I used to read the trade journals for Mac back in those days, and it was entertaining. Half the articles were talking about the superior stability (letters to the editor nearly HAD to bash windoze to get published), while the other half were finding interesting ways to describe how to deal with the instability without actually admitting to it. At the time, Apple had an advertising campaign bashing Windows for BOD failures, while the trades were filled with articles that could be summed up to "If you can get your Mac to a stable configuration....DON'T TOUCH IT!!!
