Uses for Old Computer Books?
I recently found a couple of old computer books on Delphi.
I am sure that most of you will be familliar with the type of books.
- Heavy
- Page counts approaching or exceeding 1,000
- You think you are going to use them extensively, but then find them
- outdated a few months after you purchased them
- Then they turn up practically unused several years later.
Can anyone come up with some practical suggestions as to
what I can do with them?
All I can come up with is to use them as a door-stop to trip up the unwary.

Use them as weight for your roof, in case the big bad wolf comes along?

Hollow out the inside enough to put in some old clock workings. Then convince your coworkers that it is, in fact, a rare clock. Ideally, you should sell it to one of them for the original price of the book.

Re: Uses for Old Computer Books?
I like to use a good thick book as a heat sink to cool my oatmeal. When I eat oatmeal I always eat it right out of the pot that I use to cook it. I put the pot on a good thick book and stir it and move it around once one area of the book has been heated up usually flipping the book over a number of times.
Back in the days when I had a PlayStation 2 I would usually use a telephone book to set the game controller on since I don't have even one table in my house and I would sit on the floor when I played video games.
Another thought is to auction them off on ebay. But if they are rather old you wouldn't get much for them. It might not be worth the hassle of auctioning them. I've auctioned a good number of things off on ebay but I usually only do it if I feel I'm going to make something decent from the auction.

Make as many mistakes as you can as quickly as you can. We want to make sure that we make a great enough number of mistakes in a given amount of time so that we can be successful.

When I need to let out some frustration, I find that throwing books flying around the house is a good way to calm down... However it doesn't help if it's still a useful book so I make sure it's something disposable.

When I need to let out some frustration, I throw a dart at an old book with a picture of oceanebelle glued on the cover.

The picture would be useless if you left the book open while throwing darts

I did, back before I got into using VBA, I am only just starting to learn VS.
I think we are talking 15+ years ago.
