    While installing the MSDE 2000 it shows "the instance name spacified is invalid"

    Sir,

    Iam installing MSDE 2000 it shows "the instance name spacified is invalid". After restart my computer then again it shows the same error while installing.

    what should i do if it appears pls give me any solution

    Hey,

    The error message would suggest that it can't find the instance of the database, i.e. the name of the database. What steps did you take during the installation?

    Also, is there a reason why you are using MSDE, and not the newer offering called SQL Express?
