Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager-CDROM-Rightclick on whatever your CDROM is called-Settings-Uncheck AutoInsert Notification.

Hi there,
First... go to the control panel and open up system settings, select the device manager tab, select device which refers to your CD drive and click properties, Disable auto insert notification options...

For a one-off disablement (if there is such a word) you can hold down the left-hand SHIFT key when you put the CD in and the autorun won't happen (regardless how the setting is set in the Control Panel)
