Re: explorer.exe problem
Is this your Windows Explorer or your Internet Explorer?
What OS are you running?
What does "crash" mean? What does it do?

Re: explorer.exe problem
Have you got any other programs that rely or use explorer in any way (e.g. Dropbox)
Either way, try giving your computer a scan with Spybot Search and Destroy. If that fails, try running HiJackThis, save a log of what comes out, and then either copy & paste the contents of that log, or upload the log (it should be a text file) to this forum as well as other forums that specialise in HiJackThis problems.

Re: explorer.exe problem
if you are having any kind of memory errors, explorer.exe is always the first one to fail. Run memtest86.

Re: explorer.exe problem
Press [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[ESC], Go to file>new task>explorer.exe
That should bring up your desktop. If you have any more troubles, then please say so and show us the error message.

Re: explorer.exe problem
i found out that the cd made a backup luckily for me... otherwise 4 years work in java would go to waste... i've made a game in java and i've kept it online for 2 years.

Re: explorer.exe problem
resinstalling windows shouldn't actually delete anything at all. It should create a new folder for windows with a .0 or at the end of it, and it should create new user accounts with your computer's netbios name appended to them.

Re: explorer.exe problem
actually it was called "old.windows"
but i found out the problem...
i tried to make this again and it crashed explorer.exe and i just ended vb6 then it started again and explorer is running fine now.
it has something to do with this(attachment), if someone could fix my code then i'd be grateful, it is a bit messy but thats the easiest way for me.

Re: explorer.exe problem
Honestly, I am scared to run your program lest my explorer goes for a six
I opened the code and was curious the way you were using Getsetting...
Are you getting correct values in Text5 to text8?
Reason why I ask is that the correct syntax is
Code:
GetSetting(appname := "MyApp", section := "text5", _
key := "text", default := Text5.Text)
as against
Code:
GetSetting(App.EXEName, "text5", "text", Text5.Text)
Maybe we need to monitor getsetting and SaveSetting closely....
A good exercise for the Heart is to bend down and help another up...
