Screen Recorder Software

Hi,

I was going to give a youtube link to an tutorial that show exactly what I need, but for love of darwin can't find it again.

What the guy had was a screen recorded movie (explaing how some software works) and in the bottom right corner a small box displaying his webcam, all with audio of course.

Basically need exactly the same thing, allthough I suspect the little webcam box could be a seperate application.

Any pointers to free software for this? (trial could work I guess) Should run on Vista though.

Your ie should be java enabled...

Edit:

my IE gave problem accessing the site so I downloaded chrome and then went to that website. if you don't have java installed, then install the plugin which will be prompted when you open the above website (it is safe)

fraps has a free version. It records desktop in vista or you can tell it just to record certain windows (only certian ones) such as media player. The only caveat here is that fraps doesn't compress its output files so they are HUGE. You would need to input them into movie maker and make a new file from them. Also you can set the framerate of recording and select either system sound or a microphone. The webcam program is probably aftermarket.

There are a couple of other options. If your computer has a svideo out you can record it. My computer has both an in and out, so i can (and have) record the desktop with my tuner card with the monitor cloned to the svideo output.
