[RESOLVED] Problem installing applications on Vista
I just restored my vista machine from a recovery cd that came with it. Did this a few times before, so know each time the installed system is the same.
However this time something weird is going on.
When I try start some application installations (Adobe CS3 in this case), I get the normal prompt warning me about some installation that need my permission, and then the little dialog that normally come up when you start an installation.
But in less than a second that dialog disappear...and nothing further happens.
I also tried to right click and "Run as Admininstrator"...no luck

Re: Problem installing applications on Vista
For some reason the setup takes a couple of minutes to warm up before continuing with the installation. I experienced the something when installing the CS3 software.

Re: Problem installing applications on Vista
Yep, was having the same issue when reinstalling the system. Vista aint letting you know you just got to wait.
But that was not the solution though...found it elsewhere (don't ask me why this work, or need to be done while before I never had this problem)
1. Choose Start > All Programs > Accessories.
2. Right-click the Command icon, choose Run As Administrator, and authenticate.
3. Navigate to Windows\System32.
4. At the prompt, type regsvr32 jscript.dll and press Enter.
5. When a dialog box with the message "DllRegisterServer in jscript.dll succeeded" appears, click OK.
Problem solved..... Gawd, I hope Windows7 is the *REAL* next XP. Really miss XP, but cant install it on this laptop cause lack of driver support (dont feel like all the hassles making that work, and dont have time anyhow)

Re: [RESOLVED] Problem installing applications on Vista
I never had to do that when I installed the "CS3" software! Maybe it was because I was logged on as the system admin when I installed the software.

Re: [RESOLVED] Problem installing applications on Vista
Me neither. This is my first Vista machine, but I reinstalled Vista like 4 times over the past 4 months (Guess cause I messed things up resizing partitions and install linux in a dual boot configuration).
And yeah...I also was logged in with an Administrator account.
Lol...stop thinking about it, just fix it. You never know what's next with Microsoft stuff huh?

Nah, sometimes they are the same and other times they are different! It annoys me sometimes.
