    Registered program desperate

Maybe someone knows a way around a problem I have with a very important piece of software I use.

It's a PCB design program that I bought YEARS ago and no longer has any support whatsoever.

Problem is, I have dozens of files of artwork associated with it.

I have no setup file, everything is in a folder "PCB".

If I move the folder PCB to any other PC, I get a prompt that my program is unregistered......if I stay on the same PC, everything is fine.

Is there ANY way to get around something like this?
Maybe something I can do in regedit?

I don't have any key either -- long story -- the guy in Germany is a real pain to work with -- no support at all. (Last time he told me I didn't need a key).

    THANKS.

Two ways that I can think of...

    1) If you click on the Menu Help in that software, there will be an about dialog with the company's contact details... there could also be an email. Contact them...

    2) Switch to a free PCB software... something like

If you think someone will tell you how to retrieve the key of that software then I think that you are barking up the wrong tree

    Re: Registered program desperate

Well -- it's legit problem that I'm sure many people have.

Good money spent for an antiquated program (and German to boot)....with NO support. (And little support from the the beginning).

    AND --

The program is no longer available.

I wouldn't ask if I didn't have dozens of important artwork files pinned to it.

And PCB art is something you don't want to do twice....besides, I have products based on the art.

    That's OK.....if I can't get a hint, I WILL figure it out.

    Just thought I'd save time.

I'm not here for a preacher.

Try searching for the software name in your registry. Maybe you hit upon the correct registry entry.

Where did you get the program from? Is there a website associated with the program?

    PCB developers assistant.

There is a site associated with it but I have had no response for several years.

Already looked in the registry for anything obvious, but nothing.

It seems to me that if it works fine on one PC but needs registration on another....it's something that may be worked around.

I can't remember but I think I can even use the hard drive in another PC and it works fine as well.

    Re: Registered program desperate

    Which version do you have?
You can download version 2.1 here:
    http://www.programmersheaven.com/dow.../download.aspx

    Apparently it's freeware.
The zip also contains a textfile on how to order it with the maker's contact details.
